Lauryn Chavez
Lauryn is from San Francisco, CA. and started dancing in elementary with San Francisco Arts Foundation and Centerstage learning Modern dance and musical theater. She performed in productions like “The Event” with celebrities Robin Williams and Bobby McFerrin for several years. Living in the urban area of San Francisco, Lauryn learned Hip-Hop from the “streets.” After her move to Kirkland, WA. during high school, she created, co-captained and choreographed Groove dance team. During college, Lauryn trained in Hip-Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Ballet at Westlake Dance Center under Kari-lee Florentine, Kim Gockel, Kirsten Cooper, and Sheri Lewis.
Post college, Lauryn was the director of the dance department at Holy Names Academy teaching Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Hip-Hop. She coached and choreographed for their Hip-Hop/Jazz dance team’s competition and local performances. She also directed and choreographed seasonal dance recitals for the school. During her years at HNA she acted as a mentor to many young ladies and fell in love with teaching teens.
Lauryn also taught teens, adults, and the youth at Kirkland Dance Center in Hip-Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, and Lyrical. She ran dance camps, non-profit fundraisers, and developed the youth program during her time there.
Notable dance companies and performances are: In Effect under Kari-Lee Florentine, Koncrete under Ron Gatsby, Passion under Julianna Diaz and K-L Movement under Kari-Lee Florentine; Sign Of the Times, Shameless, Bumbershoot, EnLair, Simply Dance, Evolvere and various commercials.
