Alex Swart

Alex has been dancing since the age of 2 and, after joining Gotta Dance at 7 years old, has been trained in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, and Hip Hop. Alex competed locally, regionally and at the national level as a member of the Gotta Dance Performing Team for many years. At the age of 15, Alex began her teaching career as a teacher assistant.  She then attended Western Washington University where she was a 4-year member of their Hip Hop Dance Team (WWUHHDT). With WWUHHDT, Alex performed at many university events including televised WWU basketball games. Her credits also include World of Dance and Monsters of Hip Hop. She became a contributing choreographer for this team as well, and served in a leadership role her senior year.

While at WWU, Alex honed her teaching skills by offering Hip Hop classes, and became certified as a Turbo Kick (cardio-kickboxing) instructor. She introduced the cardio-kickboxing class to WWU’s Rec Center, where it remains a popular group fitness class today.

In addition to imparting her love of dance to kiddos at GD since 2013, Alex is also a full-time graduate student at Seattle University pursuing her M.A.Ed. in Counseling. Alex strives to engage her students through her own passion, energy and positivity in class.
